Bar

DSCF3673edit-smallCuth’s is unique in that we have two  - yes two! – bars that are two of the best in Durham in terms of atmosphere, environment and pricing. Also unlike any other college bars in Durham we open from 12.30 every day: check the opening hours page for more info. It’s always lively, especially in the evenings, and is possibly the cheapest place you will ever get a drink.

The Bailey Bar is located at the Bailey site and is a hive of social activity in the Society whether alcohol related or otherwise (and also goes a long way to assisting the budget requirements of the JCR). Brooks Bar is located down at the Parsons field site and is known for its great atmosphere, sport, long opening hours and fantastic JCR facilities that are joined to it. It is usually associated with a quieter atmosphere than the ‘party atmosphere’ of the Bailey Bar, and is a great way to wile away the evenings. Both bars offer the same low prices for drinks and food and the unavoidable St Cuthbert’s Society spirit and enthusiasm for socialising. You will undoubtedly come to love both of them in your time here at Cuth’s.

The bar is staffed and operated by Cuth’s students. This means we know what students want and can give it to them! Full student involvement means the bar has a friendly and especially student-orientated atmosphere you won’t find in non student-run establishments.

Cuth’s only exists because of students and the bars are for students. Why not get involved and work behind the bar? This is a great opportunity to meet other Cuth’smen/women and earn a bit of extra cash.

All profits from the Club are either reinvested in the Club or transfered to the JCR in order to fund JCR facilities or our sports teams and societies, so you know your money is going to a good cause – you!
